Something we would all like

The series of posts I have been doing on, How to Win Friends and Influence People (HTWFAIP) have a common thread. That thread revolves around placing yourself as a person with a home internet business opportunity in your client’s position.

Today’s post talks specifically about how sympathy can assist you. According to Wikipedia; “Sympathy is a social affinity in which one person stands with another person, closely understanding his or her feelings”. However I wonder if empathy may be closer to what he goes on to describe as an approach. Going to Wikipedia; “Empathy, which literally translates as ‘in feeling’, is the capability to share and understand another person’s emotions and feelings. It is often characterized as the ability to ‘put oneself into another person’s shoes’”.

In a work from home career you will meet people who have reasons they are unable to run a home business. The facts are that the people who have been successful range from a muffler salesman to a cardio surgeon. However if I feel I am incapable of running a home business as a way of earning extra money those examples will not convince me.

Note I used the word ‘feel’ above, because we are emotional beings. So for you to help me see how a home business in direct sales would help me gain financial freedom you have to take my concerns seriously. If I believe you are not taking my feelings seriously I will not be open to change. It’s referred to as ‘emotional intelligence’, and is a helpful skill to develop. We all like someone to understand how we feel about something.
