I first became interested in home Internet businesses when I read Robert Kiyosaki’s, Rich Dad Poor Dad series of books. This convinced me I would never be wealthy working for someone else. His recent book the Conspiracy of the Rich has increased my conviction.

I have tried an eBay store but found that ‘dropshipping’ as it’s called required too much effort for little return. What I was looking for was an automated system that would allow me to move from full-time employee to full time entrepreneur.

I joined an MLM company and quickly realized it was a scam because unless you are in at the top it’s just about recruiting people, getting their money and moving on. I received no training and was told to draw up a list of people I knew and start ringing them. Needless to say I didn’t want to do that so I left. These are the worst type of home Internet businesses.

Then I came across network marketing which was better than MLM, in that on paper I was part of a team and there were training videos. Only problem was my Sponsor. He kept all his secrets to himself because he wanted to corner the UK market. I was beginning to think the whole issue of home Internet businesses was ’shady’.

Then I came across my current home Internet business and was impressed by three things. My Sponsor she wanted to know about me, wanted me to set some initial goals I would aim for and had quite a long chat with me and said she would let me know as soon as possible if my application accepted. This made me realize they were serious and did not just take any one.

Secondly, the business model was get paid today, the methods are similar to network marketing in that you build a network or ‘team’ of marketers who are each business associates (not employees). The main difference being if you sell something today, then you get paid before the company you are partnered with. You arrange for the product to be shipped to your new business associate via a sophisticated Internet marketing system.

The products being sold add real value to people’s lives especially in the current economic climate as they are about learning how to manage your finances to optimum level.

Finally, the training is second to none and is ongoing with weekly training and development calls, podcasts, webinars, seminars and conferences.

That’s my story of why I think get paid today direct sales represents one the best home Internet businesses.
